ECL manufacture, source components and assemble PCBs for Acc+Ess Limited, makers of the ‘Protocab Model Railway Control System’, which not only makes railway modelling easy but fun and more realistic.
For those that do not know much about railway modelling, involvement ranges from possession of a train set to large models of a railroad and the scenery through which it passes, called a “layout”. Hobbyists may even maintain models large enough to ride!
ECL has assisted through prototyping of Acc+Ess Protocab assemblies and we are now starting production runs for the award winning company (Scottish Wild EDGE competition winners 2015).
Acc+Ess Protocab replaces power from the rails with power from batteries on board the locomotives, controlled wirelessly from a handheld controller that is simple to set up and easy to use.
From now onwards, enthusiasts will not need to clean their rails for power, they can recharge the battery without having to take it out the locomotive and because the battery does not need to be run down completely they can top it up at any time. With Protocab they can enjoy the process of actually driving their locomotives.
“We’ve worked closely with ECL over the past 2 years from design phase, where communication and an understanding of what we needed was key to now placing production run orders for PCBs and their subsequent Assembly. We are very happy with the service we have received from ECL. Having a single accountable electronics supplier offering design to production services gives us peace of mind and allows us to focus on our core competencies”
